Why Kenneth Okonkwo needs prayer to escape from bondage of shamelessness – by Joachim OLUMBA
In recent times, Kenneth Okonkwo has been telling Nigerians everything completely contrary to what he said about Peter Obi almost four years ago. One is beginning to wonder why he is suddenly recanting all the strong, emphatic and wonderful statements which he made about his principal, Mr. Peter Obi in the recent past.
I am at difficulty coming to terms with how someone would strongly endorse and recommend someone to Nigerians with convincing points and evidence only to do a volte-face without adducing any reasons for the dramatic change. This is the mess Kenneth Okonkwo has brought to himself over time.
This is why we must at all times be careful who we recruit to work for, or with us. Muhammadu Buhari ascended office as President of Nigeria in 2015. Despite the fact that he proved himself a monumental disaster in office, Kenneth Okonkwo emerged from nowhere in 2018 boisterously and disgustingly telling Nigerians to reelect Buhari in 2019, claiming that he had performed marvelously in office. His noise was everywhere and that was when some discerning Nigerians knew that Kenneth Okonkwo is someone who could not be trusted or taken seriously.
Eventually, Buhari won reelection and did not look in the direction of Kenneth Okonkwo notwithstanding all the noise he made in supporting the grossly inept Daura-born Nigeria’s president. Perhaps, Buhari understood clearly that this Nsukka-born thespian was not one to be relied upon having lied publicly about his own lacklustre performance in office.
As he got no position from Buhari, it surprised many observers that Kenneth Okonkwo jumped ship in 2023 and began to criticize his once-upon-a-time messiah, and his party- the APC. He anchored on Peter Obi and automatically became his spokesman. Soon after Peter Obi’s presidential election bid crumbled finally, following the unfavourable and controversial judicial endorsement of earlier INEC pronouncements, Kenneth Okonkwo in his usual itinerant herder’s style, abandoned Peter Obi in the build up to 2027.
He found solace in Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, a man he had previously poured invectives and scathing remarks on. As has always been his pattern and stock-in-trade, Peter Obi, his former boss, would now be at the receiving end. Like Reno Omokri, Daniel Bwala and FFK, he will concoct and manufacture all manner of lies to vilify his previous boss and invent or nurture beautiful and colourful words to attempt to resuscitate the battered image of his current master.
In a recent viral video Kenneth Okonkwo was seen venomously doing what he knows how to do best- the rhetorical vilification of his former master and glorification of his present (but hitherto vilified) boss. How can a man be so double-faced and dishonourable that he says one thing today and shamelessly reverses himself tomorrow? Is this for the sake of material benefits or for what? Whatever it is, may God help all these people who are yet to appreciate the fact that integrity surpasses almost every other thing in life. INTEGRITY is the basis for Peter Obi’s unprecedented popularity in the politics of Nigeria today. The massive crowds following Peter Obi everywhere in the world today are not doing so because of his wealth, education or handsomeness. It’s simply because people trust him, because they can relate to his uncommon qualities and values.
Kenneth Okonkwo, must stop Living in Bondage for nobody ever trusts or believes in you. He should leave Peter Obi alone for the NDC presidential candidate does not belong to where he belongs- the gutters. Obi is too clean for Okonkwo’s dirty politics.
