Charles Okocha awaits Portable in boxing rematch after Carter Efe defeat

Portable, the street pop singer, is expected to fight the celebrity boxer Charles Okocha once again in a rematch slated to take place on July 31st at Balmoral Convention Center, Victoria Island, Lagos.

This has come a few weeks since Portable lost his celebrity boxing title to comic Carter Efe.

The above information was revealed recently in a post by Balmoral Promotions saying the fight will be staged alongside the Agbaje and Musa fight.

“Africa, the stage is set. Now, we settle the score. Portable. Charles Okocha. Agbaje. Musa. Four fighters. One ring. No more talk,” the post read.

Central Post Nigeria recall how Carter Efe beat Portable for the first time in the game of celebrity boxing when he dominated the singer over three rounds at Chaos in the Ring 4 that took place at Balmoral Hall, Federal Palace Hotel, Victoria Island, Lagos.

The three judges rated the fight 30-27 in favor of Carter Efe and brought an end to Portable’s undefeated streak in celebrity boxing.

Prior to the defeat, Portable had earned himself a name in the sport by winning against Charles Okocha and Speed Darlington in their respective fights and gaining two celebrity boxing belts.

The upcoming fight sets up a duel that started back in 2023, after Portable claimed that Okocha had cheated him in a business deal worth about ₦40m, which eventually led to their boxing match.

In their first fight at Landmark Beach, Victoria Island, Lagos, Portable won the fight after four rounds that lasted about 40 minutes.

The challenger began with great vigor, overpowering the first round with hard body shots until Okocha fought back in the second round with many punches which made Portable suffer some pressure.

Despite the exhaustion of both boxers in the fourth round, neither chose to fight a fifth round and the champion emerged victorious, taking home the belt.

Okocha protested about his loss and continually asked for a rematch because he believed that the match was not conducted properly.

In this battle scheduled on July 31, the Nollywood star finally gets a chance to prove himself, while Portable tries to regain his lost celebrity boxing belt from Carter Efe.
