A convoy of Peter Obi, the presidential flag-bearer of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) party, is said to have been ambushed in Calabar, Cross River State.

This development was announced by Ester Umoh, a media aide to the NDC presidential flag-bearer, via a social media update on Wednesday.

However, details surrounding the reported attack, including the circumstances and possible casualties, were not immediately provided.

“Thugs are trying to attack our convoy,” she said while raising the alarm over the incident.

The development comes shortly after Obi, alongside his wife, Margaret, and his running mate, Rabiu Kwankwaso, arrived in Calabar for a town hall meeting.

The alleged attack comes barely two months after Obi’s convoy faced a similar incident in Benue State, where thugs blocked the Boko Road by the Air Force Base in an attempt to prevent the former Anambra State governor from gaining access into the state.
