Eddie Howe resigns as Newcastle boss

Manager Eddie Howe has left his post at Newcastle United following talks with the club management.

That happened in light of the challenging summer the Magpies have had, losing some of their main players.

Midfielder Sandro Tonali has been transferred to Tottenham Hotspur, and winger Anthony Gordon is moving to Spanish giants Barcelona.

Two of the best players leaving the squad mark an important change in Newcastle, and now Howe is another big name leaving the club.

Moreover, there are doubts about the club’s captain Bruno Guimaraes who is strongly linked with Arsenal.

According to Sky Sports, it is those sales that affected the manager’s decision because of his concern about the squad’s state in the beginning of the new season.

At the moment, Newcastle have signed 20-year-old winger Bazoumana Toure from Hoffenheim for £42m, 18-year-old midfielder Sean Steur from Ajax for £23m and 20-year-old goalkeeper Ewen Jaouen from Reims for £18.5m.

Nevertheless, they did not manage to sign Switzerland international Johan Manzambi who preferred moving to Aston Villa.

Newcastle have already begun the search for a replacement for Howe with some names already being considered by sporting director Ross Wilson and CEO David Hopkinson.
