Police officer and three other people have lost their lives in an attack that is believed to have been perpetrated by suspected Lakurawa militants in Girkau village in Kebbe Local Government Area of Sokoto State.

In addition, some other villagers were injured in this attack that is believed to have taken place yesterday, Tuesday.

The attack has been brought into limelight by the security analyst, Bakatsine, through his posting on X, in which he mentioned the name of the deceased policeman as Hussaini Manyu.

It has been revealed from the report that the gunmen attacked the village and shot at four people, one of whom was a police officer, while others got injured.

No official announcement has yet been made regarding the attack, at least up to the time of filing this report.

“The attackers were also said to have killed an elderly man, Bala Wakili, and a young herder who reportedly refused to hand over his cattle,” Bakatsine said.

Bakatsine added that the gunmen shot another farmer while he was working on his farmland.

The attackers also reportedly set a police Hilux vehicle and another belonging to the Community Guard on fire before fleeing the area.

The post further claimed that the militants rustled an unspecified number of cattle during the raid.

In addition, a married woman was reportedly beaten after she resisted an attempted sexual assault by the attackers.

“How many more warnings must become death notices before vulnerable communities receive the protection they deserve?,” Bakatsine wrote
