Kaduna: Tears as former Super Eagles star, Michael Eneramo slumps, dies during match

There is sorrow within the football world of Nigeria after the untimely passing of Michael Eneramo, former Super Eagles player, who died while playing a match.

According to the reports, the 40-year-old man collapsed while playing football at the Angwan Yelwa pitch in the Television area of Kaduna state. The man collapsed while playing the game as a second-half substitution without getting into contact with anyone.

Witnesses indicated that all the attempts to revive Eneramo proved futile at the spot. Afterward, Eneramo was taken to the nearby hospital where he was declared dead.

An individual well versed in the situation said that Eneramo “collapsed and died instantly” despite attempts to revive him.

Michael, who had long since retired from the field of professional football, played for some famous clubs including the Turkish football powerhouse, Beşiktaş J.K., the Tunisian football team, Espérance Sportive de Tunis, and a Nigerian football club known as Lobi Stars F.C..

Prior to his demise, he reportedly had his own football academy.

The Super Eagles Twitter handle confirmed Eneramo’s death with an honor message attached along with his picture. The post read “Rest in Peace Michael.”
