District head murdered during dispute at illegal mining site in Kaduna
District Head of Maganda, Alhaji Hussaini Sulaiman, who hails from Birnin Gwari Local Government Area in Kaduna State, has been assassinated after a scuffle at a site of illegal gold mining in his community.
It is learnt that soldiers of Operation Fasan Yamma were deployed in response to complaints from people at around 2:33 p.m. on Thursday.
Allegedly, the traditional leader was shot dead by a suspected outlaw who is known as Shuaibu in a dispute at the mining site in Maganda.
According to preliminary information, there was some form of fight between the deceased and the alleged killer before the shooting happened.
From the sources, it is clear that the victim died from gunshot wounds at the spot where he fell.
His body was then removed to Birnin Gwari for his Islamic funeral prayer.
In light of this development, the security forces have started an investigation and are in the process of arresting the accused.
This murder case has further raised concerns about the operations of criminal gangs and illegal mining in certain sections of Birnin Gwari.
