Bandits raid Kaduna communities, kill 4, abduct others
Four persons have lost their lives while another eleven have been kidnapped following a spate of attacks in various villages in Kachia and Kajuru Local Government Areas in Kaduna State.
The residents claim that these attacks took place from Saturday to Monday when gunmen invaded some villages and wreaked havoc in the communities.
In Kachia Local Government, the gunmen attacked Mafofadiya and Zagom Mazuga villages from Sunday to Monday, shooting dead one of the residents who was named Joel Dauda and kidnapped other individuals such as Leo Bakut, Kefas Hilary, Vitoria Leo, Cristiana Joel, Iseal Joel, Hannatu Iseal and Isreal James.
A second set of attacks took place in Kallah and Kufana villages within the jurisdiction of Kajuru Local Government Area where gunmen shot dead two residents – namely Jagora Dabo and Misali Adamu – and kidnapped other four persons.
In the process, the pregnant wife of the murdered Jagora Dabo was kidnapped alongside their children.
Another death, according to reports, took place in Kufana village, but the victim had not been identified when the report was filed.
This latest attack has raised the level of fear among the people of Southern Kaduna because the attacks are common and tend to be underreported by the locals.
However, the recent attack has sparked discussions about the effectiveness of the security measures implemented by the authorities. Such measures include using non-kinetic options such as rehabilitation programmes to convince armed groups to end their acts of violence.
Community leaders have pleaded with the authorities to tighten security in the area to protect the villagers from harm.
