Panic in Osun as armed men kidnap Council Vice Chairman, others

The people of Ora-Igbomina located in Ifedayo Local Government Area of Osun State have been left panicking after unidentified gunmen entered the community and kidnapped four people, one of whom is the Vice Chairman of Ifedayo Local Government Council, Debo Faroumbi.

It has been learnt that the armed gunmen entered the town in the middle of the night, shooting several bullets in the air, which created panic among the people.

Debo Faroumbi, the Vice Chairman of Ifedayo Local Government Council, as well as three other people whose identity could not be confirmed at the time of reporting this news, were kidnapped by the attackers.

Reports indicate that the gunmen attacked the town before kidnapping four people, comprising one of the local government leaders, two Fulani women, and one person.

The attack created chaos as many people fled from their homes in order to escape the attackers.

However, the attackers soon faced resistance from the army soldiers who were present in the community, chasing the attackers until they abandoned three people while fleeing with one official.

An official spokesman for Osun State Police, Abiodun Ojelabi, said the police were already searching for the perpetrators to rescue the victim

“Yes, some yet-to-be-identified gunmen stormed Ora-Igbomina in Ifedayo Local Government, abducting four persons. But military engagement forced them to abandon three victims.

“They eventually succeeded in taking Debo Faroumbi into the forest with them and police and other security agencies have launched manhunt for the suspects,” he said.
