Suspected bandits kill Vice Principal, abduct WAEC students in Kogi
Panic has set in among people of Iluke community of Kogi State after an attack by suspected bandits that led to the death of the vice principal of a Government Secondary School, Iluke.
As per reports, armed men invaded the area early Wednesday morning and shot dead Mr. Gani Anifowose, Vice Principal of Government Secondary School, Iluke.
The situation worsened after the abduction of students from three other neighboring communities who were supposed to take the WASSCE (English) exam.
Panic is everywhere and the fear grips many parents not daring to send their children to school while teachers dread even stepping into their classes, exposing once again the danger in which the schools and communities of Kogi state find themselves in.
As per report from Politics Nigeria, a member of the Iluke Bunu community association said they had been making calls to security agencies without any positive result.
“An hour is gone and no sign of rescue efforts from the security agencies despite placing several calls for help,” he said. “We urge citizens to remain calm and continue praying for divine intervention, protection, and lasting peace in our communities.”
The community is now asking security forces and government officials to move fast. They want the abducted students found and the area secured before more lives are lost.
No official statement yet from the Kogi State Police Command or the state government on the attack and abductions.
