Edo Assembly formally impeaches suspended ex-Speaker Agbebaku

The Edo State House of Assembly has officially impeached its suspended former Speaker, Blessing Agbebaku, in the face of the political storm that has been plaguing the legislative house.

The action of the members of the house was taken Monday as they effectively sacked Agbebaku from the office he once held as Speaker of the Legislative house.

This comes in the wake of a political conflict going on at the Edo State House of Assembly.

Recall that Agbebaku, who represents Owan West Constituency, had, on Monday, August 17, 2026, resigned his position as the Speaker of the House. Yekini Idaiye, the lawmaker representing Akoko-Edo 1, was then elected in his place as the new Speaker
