Ganduje finally recognises Sanusi II as Emir of Kano at public event
The former governor of Kano state, Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, has formally accepted the appointment of Muhammadu Sanusi II as the Emir of Kano and the chairman of the council of chiefs in Kano state.
Ganduje did so Tuesday during the inauguration of the new deputy governor of the state, Murtala Sule Garo, in Government House, Kano.
During the occasion, which was attended by various dignitaries, the former governor addressed the gathering, greeting Sanusi with his full title as the Emir of Kano, eliciting thunderous applause from the crowd.
This is the first time that Ganduje has formally acknowledged Sanusi’s position as the Emir of Kano since the latter’s controversial ouster in 2020, when the former was governor of Kano.
However, Yusuf appointed back Sanusi by firing off Alhaji Aminu Ado Bayero, whom Sanusi had been substituted for by Ganduje.
On the contrary, Ado Bayero turned down the offer of stepping down from his position with an implication that he was under the patronage of Ganduje and even the Federal Government.
Recently, things became more interesting when the governor joined APC.
Sanusi was granted permission to conduct Sallah Durbar unlike previously when he was summoned by police due to clashes that ensued during the Durbar ceremony.
