In Oyo State, the government has commenced demolition on a structure that was being used as a den by suspected kidnappers in the Lakoun area, situated on the Ayegun-Olojuoro road in Ibadan.

According to reports, the suspects had been using this structure to hold a victim named Mrs. Olaide Adegoke John-Paul, who is the younger sister of former Minister for Power, Chief Adebayo Adelabu, and her twin sons aged 12. They have since been rescued.

Sharing a video of the demolition on X on Monday, an Oyo-based local media platform, Oyo Affairs, wrote, “The Oyo State Government has demolished kidnappers’ den at Lakoun, Ayegun-Olojuoro road, Ibadan, where the sister of former Minister Adebayo Adelabu and her children were held captive.”

The flattening of the criminal den was said to follow a high-powered security assessment of the site led by the Oyo State Commissioner of Police, Oluwagbemiga Abimbola, on Sunday.

Another digital news platform, Oyo Matters, shared additional photos and a video of the ongoing demolition on X, writing, “Oyo Government Demolishes Building Used as Kidnappers’ Hideout in Adelabu Family Abduction, Levels Property to the Ground.”

Central Post Nigeria reports that two members of the kidnapping syndicate involved in the abduction were shot dead during the rescue operation on Saturday, after which four arrested suspects were paraded on Sunday at the State Police Headquarters in Eleyele, Ibadan, urging residents to remain vigilant and report fleeing members of the kidnapping syndicate.
