CDCFIB announces October 28 portal opening for candidates’ status checks, drug tests
The Civil Defence, Correctional, Fire and Immigration Services Board has set October 28 as the date for opening its portal for recruits who have made it to the oral interview stage of the selection process. The portal would stay open until November 13.
This was revealed by the Secretary to the Board, retired Major-General Abdulmalik Jibrin, at the end of the board’s meeting held on Thursday, October 22, 2026. This is because candidates have been waiting.
“The board has considered and also has agreed, since candidates have been waiting, by 28th of October, God willing, the board, I mean the portal for the candidate will open, where candidate and this portal will open from 28th October to 13th November to remain open,” Jibrin said.
He said candidates are to check their status on the portal and proceed for a mandatory drug test with the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency. The test is in line with a federal government directive that every employee due for an appointment letter must submit a certificate clearing them of illegal drug use.
“For candidates who have reached so far to the oral interviews to check their status and select and attend a mandatory drug test with the NDLEA in keeping with the federal government directive that every employment, every employee that has gone to get an appointment letter must submit the document alongside certificate of that clear him free of use of illegal drugs,” he said.
Jibrin explained the process: candidates will take a code from the portal and go to the NDLEA office in their respective states for the test. After that, they will converge in Abuja to collect their appointment letters.
“So, the portal will open 28th October up to 13th November for people to check their status and then take a code and proceed to their respective in their respective state where the NDLEA office is and present themselves for mandatory drug test,” he said.
“It’s after that that they will proceed, they will all converge in Abuja to collect their letters of appointment, and that is the documentation. So, you must come along with your certificate of free from drug abuse before you collect your letter.”
The board oversees recruitment into the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, the Nigerian Correctional Service, the Federal Fire Service and the Nigeria Immigration Service. The portal opening follows months of delays in the recruitment exercise.
Jibrin also said the board meeting discussed the elevation of officers in the services. He invited the service chiefs at the meeting to comment on what he called the magnanimity of President Bola Tinubu in increasing the number of officers in their respective services.
“That is those are some of the decision that were taken during this today’s board meeting. And I will allow any of the service chiefs to say something that concern their service as regard what I’ve just said, to express their feelings and joy with the magnanimity of Mr. President in elevating the number of officers from their respective services,” he said.
Candidates who sat for the oral interviews are advised to check the portal from October 28. The portal closes on November 13.
