Ovie Omo-Agege, who served as the former deputy president of the senate, has now resigned from the All Progressives Congress, due to irreconcilable political differences and difficulties in furthering the political interest of his people in the party.

The resignation was done through a letter dated 22nd May, 2026, sent to the chairman of the APC in Orogun Ward 2 of Ughelli North local government area of Delta State.

In the letter, Omo-Agege stated that certain events happening within the party prompted him to resign from the party after consulting extensively with his supporters, friends, and loyalists.

“I will not remain a sitting duck in a party where I cannot advance the interests of Delta Central, Delta State and Nigeria,” Omo-Agege stated.

The ex-legislator thanked the APC leadership for the privilege of serving as the Deputy President of the 9th Senate and requested his name to be withdrawn from all the records of the APC party and its means of communication.

Omo-Agege explained that the development is not going to change his focus from developing and representing Delta Central of Delta State and Nigeria, stressing that he will continue pursuing his goals away from the ruling APC.

He disclosed this in a statement signed by his Media Adviser, Sunday Areh.

It is anticipated that there will be new political alignment in Delta State in anticipation of the 2027 general elections.
