Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri has instructed all political appointees in his government who do not belong to the All Progressives Congress party (APC) and those who have shown that they belong to other political parties to either resign from their offices or face dismissal from office.

This is according to a statement released by the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Humwashi Wonosikou.

The statement further stated that within 48 hours, affected appointees are required to resign their posts through letter submissions to the Office of the Secretary to the State Government

“This directive has become necessary to preserve government loyalty, discipline, and the integrity of public service,” Governor Fintiri was quoted as saying.

The governor warned that political office holders are expected to remain committed to the policies and political direction of the administration, insisting that those who have shifted allegiance cannot continue to serve in government.

“Continued service by persons who have aligned with another party poses a clear risk of sabotage, information leakage, and obstruction of policy implementation and party strategy,” he said.

Wonosikou stated that the Office of the Secretary to the State Government and the Office of the Head of Service had been directed to compile and verify a list of all affected appointees for compliance monitoring.

The governor further warned that any appointee who fails to comply with the order within the stipulated period would face immediate consequences.

“Failure to comply with this directive within the stipulated timeframe shall result in immediate termination of appointment, cessation of all salaries, entitlements and benefits, and further administrative action,” the statement quoted him as saying.

Fintiri described the move as a necessary step to ensure loyalty within government, stressing that public office holders must be fully aligned with the administration’s vision and mandate.

“Government cannot condone divided loyalty in the discharge of public trust,” he added.

The directive, according to the statement, takes immediate effect.
