World Cup: Canada Beat South Africa 1-0 to Reach Round of 16

Canada, co-hosts of the World Cup, secured a historic qualification to the round of 16 of the tournament with a 1-0 victory over South Africa thanks to a stoppage-time goal by Stephen Eustaquio.

The winning goal came in the second minute of stoppage time, when Eustaquio blasted an excellent low drive from the top of the penalty area, finally breaking the deadlock after a hard-fought match in which there were very few clear opportunities.

The result means that Canada have advanced to the knock-out stages of the tournament, while South Africa have been eliminated from the tournament after putting up a great defensive effort.
