Shettima visits NIPSS after deadly attack, orders comprehensive security review
Kashim Shettima, the Vice President, has visited the National Institute for Policy and Strategic Studies on Friday to conduct a spot-check of the facilities and ongoing programs in the institution following an attack by gunmen on the institution recently.
The visit was done alongside the governor of Plateau State, Caleb Mutfwang, among others.
The vice president was received at the institution by the Director-General of the institution, Ayo Omotayo.
The visit follows an attack by gunmen on the institution, which led to the death of three people and raised fears over the safety of the facility which happens to be one of the best in Nigeria.
This according to officials is an effort geared towards strengthening the safety measures and ensuring that the functions of the institute as one of the strategic centers in Nigeria is not interrupted.
There have been arrests made by the security agencies in connection with the attack and there have been efforts made to tighten security measures in and around the institution in order to prevent any other future occurrences.
Shettima’s visit to the institute is part of the efforts of the Federal Government to know what is happening on ground.
