Former Bauchi Deputy Governor Katagum passes away at 69
Arch. Audu Sule Katagum, the former Deputy Governor of Bauchi State, is dead at 69.
Katagum, who was the Deputy Governor of Bauchi State from 2018 to 2019 under the leadership of then Governor Mohammed Abdullahi Abubakar, died early Saturday morning.
This unfortunate event was made public by Mr. Shamsuddeen Lukman Abubakar, digital and creative media assistant to the former Governor M.A. Abubakar.
In a statement issued on Saturday, Lukman said, “Inna Lillahi Wa Inna Ilaihi Raji’un. It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Arch. Audu Sule Katagum, Wazirin Katagum and former Deputy Governor of Bauchi State.
“The deceased passed away in the early hours of today after a life of dedicated service to his community, Bauchi State and the nation,” Lukman said.
He added that details of the funeral arrangements would be communicated in due course.
“May Almighty Allah (SWT) forgive his shortcomings, grant him Aljannatul Firdaus, and give his family, friends and associates the fortitude to bear this great loss. Ameen,” he prayed.
The Wazirin Katagum was a well-respected politician and traditional ruler. In addition, prior to being appointed Deputy Governor, Abdul Sule Katagum had the position of Chief of Staff in the Government House, Bauchi State.
He leaves behind his wife, children and other relatives.
The late Katagum was the son of late elder statesman, Alhaji Sule Katagum, the first Chairman of the Federal Public Service Commission of Nigeria, and traditional ruler of Wazirin Katagum.
It has been said that his death is a big loss to Katagum Emirate and Bauchi State generally.
