Kebbi community under siege as terrorists kidnap villager
A terrorist attack carried out in the community of Tsamiya late on Saturday night has been confirmed by the Police Command of Kebbi State, with destructions recorded and one person also kidnapped in the process.
The Police have quickly responded to the situation by sending in their tactical squads to the community.
This was revealed by the police following an attack in the late hours of Saturday in the community when armed suspects invaded the community, shot at the residents and set fire to some structures, including a temporary road block set up by the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), a brothel in the community and the home of a local resident named Sule Mai Goge.
One Alhaji Yusuf Bazamfare was reportedly kidnapped by the assailants during the process.
The Police Public Relations Officer of the state, SP Bashir Usman, confirmed the incident in a statement released in the early hours of Sunday.
“The Kebbi State Police Command has deployed tactical personnel to Tsamiya Town following an attack by suspected terrorists in the late hours of 20th June 2026,” Usman said.
He explained that upon receiving reports of the attack, security agencies moved swiftly to respond and reinforce security in the affected community.
“Upon receipt of the report, the Commissioner of Police immediately directed the deployment of additional security forces to secure lives and property,” he stated.
The police spokesman disclosed that a full-scale investigation had been launched into the incident, while efforts were underway to rescue the kidnapped victim and apprehend those responsible.
“A comprehensive investigation into the incident has since commenced, and efforts to rescue the kidnapped victim and track the perpetrators are ongoing,” Usman added.
The command assured residents of Tsamiya and surrounding communities that security operations would be sustained until normalcy is fully restored.
“The Command assures residents of Tsamiya and environs that security operations will continue until normalcy is fully restored,” the statement said.
Police also urged members of the public to remain calm and vigilant, and to cooperate with security agencies by providing credible information that could assist ongoing operations.
Authorities said further updates would be provided as the investigation progresses.
