71-year-old cleric found dead in hotel room in Ondo
A 71-year-old cleric, Mr. Omotayo Ezekiel Fajana, died at a hotel in Akungba-Akoko, Ondo State, days ahead of his coronation as Head Prayer Warrior Father in Cherubim and Seraphim Church.
The cleric had made the trip to the town to take part in a church program at Ogo Orimolade C&S Church, Okerigbo where he was to be officially sworn in for his spiritual role.
But sadly for him and other people who were expecting him to assume his spiritual position, it turned out to be tragic when the late churchman was found dead in the hotel he was staying in ahead of his official coronation.
There have been fears among members of the family and friends following the untimely death of the clergyman.
According to reports, there have been issues of controversies surrounding the late cleric’s death after his corpse was said to have been taken from the hotel to a mortuary in nearby Ikare-Akoko without obtaining medical certification of death.
The family, agitated with the situation, is believed to have approached the law enforcement officials for investigations to be carried out into the matter.
It is said that the detectives are now trying to establish the exact cause of death and the sequence of events that led to this tragic occurrence, especially those individuals who had been seen with the dead before he was discovered.
As part of their efforts at investigating the case, it is said that there are three individuals who have been arrested and have helped the police in their investigations.
DSP Jimoh Abayomi, the spokesperson of Ondo State Police Command, when approached by our reporter, confirmed that the matter is being investigated by the detectives.
According to him, the detectives are investigating the whole situation to find out if there is any foul play in the case.
Abayomi assured that whoever is found guilty would face the wrath of the law.
