Burna Boy sets new record as African artist with most Billboard Hot 100 entries

Grammy award-winning Nigerian recording artist, Damini Ogulu, widely recognized as Burna Boy, has beaten his fellow artist, Tems, to take the crown as the African artist with the most appearances on the U.S Hot 100 list by Billboard.

Both artists were level pegging with eight songs each on the list, but Burna Boy was recently able to claim an additional entry via his collaborative single, ‘Dai Dai’, featuring Shakira.

The track debuted at number 75 on the chart, taking Burna Boy’s total tally to nine – the most ever recorded by any African artist.

Dai Dai received increased popularity when Burna Boy and Shakira sang the track at the World Cup Opening Ceremony.

Burna Boy is the first African artist to feature on the Billboard Hot 100 list for six consecutive years.

The artist’s appearances on the list over the years have included Loved By You (2021), Last Last (2022), Sittin’ On Top Of The World and Talibans II (2023), Just Like Me and We Pray (2024), WGFT (2025), and Only You and Dai Dai (2026).
