Father of late Mary Habila, the nurse who passed away at the house of the Minister of Works, David Umahi, has taken up the case with the Inspector General of Police (IGP), asking him to hand over the body for burial.

Tanko Habila, along with his wife and other relatives, filed the petition at the Force headquarters in Abuja on Friday. He told the media that his family was disappointed because it has been more than a fortnight since his daughter’s demise and still the Ebonyi State Police had not handed over her body.

He added that the family did not need an autopsy done but wanted the body released for burial.

“As we are standing here, somebody can fall and die. It has happened. All we want is her body to be buried,” Habila said.

The family’s latest move comes amid ongoing controversy over the circumstances surrounding Mary Habila’s death, with police insisting on conducting an autopsy as part of investigations into the incident.
