Davido writes Trump, urges US president to monitor August 15 Osun guber poll

Music legend from Nigeria, Davido, has called for President Donald Trump of the United States to be very observant of the governorship election slated for August 15 in Osun State.

This appeal was made by the singer in a post on his Twitter page on Tuesday, after showing his worry about possible violence and intimidation around the elections.

In his direct message to Trump, Davido has requested the international community, including the United States to watch events around the elections.

“President Donald Trump, I am calling your attention to the situation in Osun State, Nigeria, as we approach the election,” Davido wrote.

He said the people of Osun State should be allowed to exercise their constitutional right to vote freely and peacefully without fear or intimidation.

“There are growing concerns about tension and the possibility of violence, intimidation, or disruption of the democratic process. Osun people deserve to exercise their constitutional right to vote freely, peacefully, and without fear,” he said.

Davido also called on the US and other members of the international community to encourage Nigerian authorities to protect voters and ensure that votes cast during the election are respected.

“I appeal to the United States and the international community to pay close attention to the election and encourage all relevant authorities to ensure that every voter is protected and every vote is respected,” he added.

The singer stressed that his appeal was aimed at preventing violence and promoting a credible electoral process.

“We do not want bloodshed. We do not want intimidation. We want peace, transparency, and a free and fair election,” Davido said.

He concluded the message by tagging Trump’s official X account.

The appeal comes amid heightened political activities ahead of the August 15 governorship election, which is expected to be closely contested among the major political parties in the state.
