NPC Chairman Aminu Wushishi is dead

Dr Aminu Wushishi, the Chairman of the NPC, is dead.

Wushishi was reported to have died on Friday, August 28, 2026, after being ill for some time.

His death became known in Minna, the capital of Niger State, at the time of Juma’at prayer, leaving his associates, political friends, and the people in grief.

Wushishi, a former Secretary of the Niger State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), was said to have taken ill shortly before his death.

Confirming the development, his Special Adviser on Media, Stanley Nwosu, told Vanguard that the NPC chairman had died.

“Yes, it is true. The NPC chairman died after a brief illness,” Nwosu said.

As of the time of filing this report, details surrounding Wushishi’s death and arrangements for his funeral were yet to be made public.
