Three sisters drown after boat capsizes in Kano
Three sisters from the same family have been reportedly drowned following the capsizing of the boat in which they were traveling at Tiga Dam, Tudunwada Local Government Area of Kano State.
The unfortunate occurrence was reportedly witnessed around 2:00 p.m. on Saturday based on information gotten from relatives of the deceased.
The dead sisters were reported to be Murjanatu, Atikatu and Bilkisu, popularly referred to as Amira.
The three sisters were said to be residents of the Yalwan Rugu-Rugu community.
The chairman of Tudunwada Local Government Area and the chairperson of the Association of Local Government Chairmen of Nigeria (ALGON), Kano State chapter, Hajiya Sa’adatu Salisu Soja, confirmed the incident in a statement.
She expressed condolences to the victims’ families and the people of the community.
“We extend our heartfelt condolences to the families of the deceased and the people of Yalwan Rugu-Rugu over this painful incident.”
She also prayed for Allah to forgive the deceased and grant them eternal rest.
“May Allah forgive them, have mercy on them and grant their families the strength to bear this irreparable loss,” she prayed.
As of the time of filing this report, there had been no official statement from the Kano State Police Command or the Kano State Fire Service, which is responsible for emergency rescue operations in such incidents.
