The Nigeria Police Force apprehended three persons believed to have kidnapped a person whose video showing them posing with AK-47 guns, bullets, and walkie-talkies while wearing military uniforms had gone viral.

Commissioner of Police, Ahmed Muhammed Sanusi, disclosed the development to members of the press, noting that the forensics experts immediately started investigating the matter once the video became public.

In his words, the information gathered through digital surveillance helped to trace the whereabouts of the suspects and consequently arrest them at their hideout following an early morning raid on May 25 at 3:22 am in Runji Village, Zuba.

The raiding party comprised of operatives from the FCT Police VCRU Sector 5 and some from the Zuba Division under the leadership of the DPO.

The arrested individuals included Umar Babangida (25 years old), Adamu Yeti (22), and Yahaya Idris (24 years), all hailing from Rijana, Kaduna State.

Initial investigations indicated that the accused acquired their AK-47 rifles from a gang member referred to as “Esco,” who is still at large.

According to the authorities, another search conducted on the suspects’ handsets yielded other videos and pictures where the suspects were seen armed with firearms and military accessories.

The police further said that the suspects were being held for further interrogation, and efforts are underway to track and arrest the runaway gang leader.

It was also revealed by the police that measures are in place to bring down the entire syndicate associated with the accused.
