DSS arraigns ex-Kaduna gov, El-Rufai over alleged unlawful access to Ribadu’s phone conversation
The Department of State Services (DSS) has arraigned former Kaduna State Governor, Nasir El-Rufai, over allegations bordering on the unlawful access of a telephone conversation involving the National Security Adviser, Nuhu Ribadu.
El-Rufai, who also served as Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, is currently facing prosecution before the Federal High Court of Nigeria in Abuja on an amended five-count charge.
At the commencement of proceedings on Thursday, the prosecution team informed the court that the initial three-count charge filed against the former governor had been expanded to five counts. However, full details of the additional charges were not immediately disclosed during the session.
The case marks a significant development involving a high-profile political figure, drawing attention from legal observers and the wider public. Allegations relating to unlawful access to private communications, particularly those involving top security officials, are considered serious under Nigerian law.
