Gunmen abduct Oyo school headmaster, demand ₦30m ransom
Gunmen have kidnapped the headmaster of Nomadic Basic School, Igbojaye, Itesiwaju Local Government Area of Oyo State, Mr. Matthew Kolawale Owoade, famously known as “Onaiye.”
The 60-year-old school administrator was reportedly kidnapped on Saturday evening after he left the farm somewhere between 5:00 pm and 6:00 pm.
According to his son, Abiola Owoade, gunmen kidnapped his father and took him to an unknown location.
The kidnappers subsequently called the family through the mobile phone of the victim demanding a ransom of N30 million before releasing him.
However, the rescue team managed to locate his abandoned motorcycle in a nearby bush area on Sunday.
The kidnapping of the headmaster has caused much worry among his family members, fellow teachers and educationists of Itesiwaju Local Government Area and calls have been made to security organizations to step up efforts to release the victim unharmed.
The victim’s family equally appealed to members of the public to give any valuable information that could help the security organizations locate the victim.
DSP Olayinka Ayanlade, the spokesperson for Oyo State Police Command, confirmed the incident saying the victim was kidnapped when he was at the farm in Budo Aare.
“I can confirm to you that a farmer, Mr. Owoade Mathew, was kidnapped at his farm in Budo Aare, and efforts are on to rescue the man unhurt and arrest the perpetrators,” the police spokesperson said
