Gunmen storm Oyo community, shoot teacher, abduct principal, students
Gunmen stormed the Ahoro-Esinele community in Oriire Local Government Area, Oyo State. Reports have it that the invasion took place between 8:00 am and 9:00 am today.
Based on reports from reliable sources, the gunmen attacked Community High School, Ahoro-Esinele, where they kidnapped several unknown numbers of students.
A source in the community also stated that the kidnappers kidnapped the school principal, Mrs. Rachael Alamu, and shot a teacher.
Also, the same source said that the kidnappers took the school principal away in her vehicle before escaping into the forest that shares borders with the community.
Speaking to our correspondent, the source said, “An unspecified number of students. We don’t know their number.
“The school principal, Mrs Rachel Alamu, was also abducted. They also shot a teacher in the school. I don’t know the sex of the teacher.
“The police station is far from that place. The nearest police station should be Ikoyi Division”.
Speaking to a reporter, Public Relations Officer of the State Police Command, Olayinka Ayanlade, stated that there was indeed an attack at the community in question.
When asked over the phone if anyone had been kidnapped, Mr. Ayanlade could neither confirm nor deny it.
The Police Commissioner and team were on their way to the scene.
“There was an attack in that area. The Commissioner of Police is on his way to the area.”
