‘Not everyone knows when to leave the stage’ – Jim Iyke takes swipe at celebrities

Nollywood veteran actor Jim Iyke has spoken on how he tried to rebrand himself into a responsible gentleman after the “bad boy” label bestowed upon him by the movie industry.

According to the actor who spoke during a recent interview with media mogul Joey Akan, the “bad boy” label came about as a result of external pressures but he tried to rebrand himself once he realized it did not serve any purpose anymore.

Iyke said a lot of his peers are experiencing stagnation because they do not know when to get off stage or develop themselves.

The movie star stressed the need for entertainers to rebrand when necessary.

He said, “External forces play a great part in who you become in the entertainment industry.

“At every point in time something is serviceable. We can all agree the ‘bad boy’ image was serviceable then. But then, as you advance in life, you meet important people that your ‘bad boy’ persona is anathema to how they live.

“Not knowing when to exit the stage is a problem a lot of us are having in entertainment. Let’s just say I knew when to exit.

“The ‘bad boy’ image served its purpose but I had to ditch it when it is no longer serviceable to move forward in life.”
