Osun 2026: Adeleke casts vote as voters turn out early

Ademola Adeleke, the Osun State Governor and Accord Party candidate for governor, has voted in the ongoing Osun State gubernatorial poll.

The governor came to Polling Unit 009, Ward 02, Abogunde Compound, Ede North Local Government Area, around 8:10 am and proceeded to vote.

Ede town, which is the home of the governor, along with some parts of Ilesha and Osogbo, experienced a good number of voters who showed up before the time of voting started.

Ede had early arrival of voters at about 6:40 am, while cars carrying both voters and members of the National Youth Service Corps were spotted in different places.

Security personnel were deployed across Ede North and Ede South Local Government Areas, with checkpoints mounted in compliance with the restriction on vehicular movement during the election.

Personnel of the Nigeria Police Force and Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps were also seen at several polling units before the arrival of Independent National Electoral Commission officials and election materials.

Local election observers were present at some polling units, monitoring the process and preparations for voting.

While accreditation and voting had commenced at some locations, INEC officials were yet to paste the register of eligible voters at some other polling units visited.

The early turnout was also reported in other parts of the state, including Ilesha and Osogbo, as voters participated in the election to choose the next governor of Osun State.
