Oyo govt declares curfew as search intensifies for kidnapped students, teachers
The Governor of Oyo State, Seyi Makinde, has imposed a curfew in 10 local government areas of the state.
It was revealed that the 10 local government areas are those near the Old Oyo National Park.
According to our correspondent, there have been several worries in the area because of the park.
It was revealed that the park is where the kidnapped students and teachers are being held by bandits.
It has come to the notice of our correspondent that 39 students and seven teachers were kidnapped in some villages in Oriire Local Government Area last month.
Makinde declared a curfew in the 10 local government areas near the park on Tuesday.
This announcement of the 16 hours curfew in the 10 LGAs was done in the press statement by the Secretary to Oyo State Government, Professor Musibau Babatunde.
This statement was availed to this newspaper by the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor of Oyo State, Dr Sulaimon Olanrewaju on Tuesday evening.
The press statement read that the curfew is effective starting Wednesday, June 24, 2026.
It also reads that the curfew shall take place between 4:00 p.m. and 8:00 a.m. and the duration of the curfew is 48 hours in the first instance.

Orelope LGA (Igboho),
Irepo LGA (Kisi),
Saki West LGA (Saki),
Saki East LGA (Ago-Amodu),
Atisbo LGA (Tede/Ago-Are),
Itesiwaju LGA (Otu),
Iseyin LGA (Iseyin),
Olorunsogo LGA (Igbeti)
and Atiba
