Toyin Abraham distances herself from APC 2027 campaign list
The Nollywood actress, Toyin Abraham, has strongly denied being part of the Lagos APC campaign council for the 2027 general elections.
This denial came up after the Lagos APC campaign council list was unveiled on Thursday, where she featured among 33 personalities in the Entertainment and Creative Economy Directorate.
Reacting to the development, the actress said she had chosen to stay out of politics and urged members of the public to disregard her inclusion in any campaign committee.
In a statement shared on her Instagram Story, Abraham said, “I’m not a member of any campaign council. I have said it recently, I am staying out of politics. Please disregard the supposed inclusion of my name in any campaign committee.”
The development comes ahead of the formal inauguration of the Lagos APC Campaign Council, scheduled for Friday, September 18, at the party’s secretariat on ACME Road, Ikeja.
The campaign council list released by the Kadri Obafemi Hamzat Media Centre included several prominent figures from Nigeria’s entertainment industry.
Among those listed were veteran actor Jide Kosoko, Fuji musicians Wasiu Alabi Pasuma, Abass Akande Obesere and Adewale Ayuba, as well as Nollywood actresses Eniola Badmus and Bimbo Akintola.
The entertainers were listed under the Entertainment and Creative Economy Directorate of the campaign council.
According to the list, Toke Benson-Awoyinka was named Director of the directorate, while Kosoko was listed as Co-Director and Badmus as Deputy Director.
Akeem Alimi, popularly known as Ajala Jalingo, was named Secretary, while Dare Olateju was listed as Assistant Secretary.
Abraham’s public rejection of the listing, however, puts her reported inclusion in the campaign structure in question, with the actress maintaining that she is not part of any campaign council and has chosen not to participate in politics.
