Tragedy strikes Ondo as 3 siblings die on farm

Tragedy struck a family in Akure, Ondo State, where three brothers have passed away, with one being a set of 11-year-old twins, who were discovered dead in a farm area next to a river, near the Owena Army Barracks.

The siblings include 11-year-old twins named Joshua Jonah and Jacob Jonah, along with their five-year-old sister, Blessing Jonah.

This incident occurred when the siblings accompanied their father, Samuel Jonah, to the farm on Friday, September 4, 2026.

The circumstances surrounding their deaths were not immediately clear as of the time of filing this report.

They reportedly left the farm later in the day and headed towards home. However, their father discovered they were missing after returning home, leading to a search for the three children.

The search reportedly ended on Saturday when their bodies were discovered near the bank of a small river within the farm.

The deaths have left the family devastated, with the loss of three siblings in the same incident deepening the tragedy.

Confirming the incident, the spokesperson for the Ondo State Police Command, Jimoh Abayomi, said the command had commenced an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the deaths.

Abayomi said the children had gone to the farm with their father before they were later reported missing.

He added that the bodies had been released to their father for burial, while the police continued to document the incident and investigate what led to their deaths.

According to him, “The Ondo State Police Command confirms the tragic loss of three siblings at a farm located around the Owena Army Barracks, Akure, on 4th September 2026.

“The victims, identified as Joshua Jonah, 11 years; Jacob Jonah, 11 years, (twins), and Blessing Jonah, five years, reportedly accompanied their father, Samuel Jonah, to the farm.

“They later left the farm for home but were discovered missing when their father returned home.”
