2026 NCEE: NABTEB fixes July 7 for results release

The National Business and Technical Examinations Board (NABTEB) has revealed that the 2026 National Common Entrance Examination (NCEE) into technical colleges in Nigeria will be published on July 7.

According to the Registrar and Chief Executive Officer of NABTEB, Aminu Mohammed, who made this revelation during an inspection on Wednesday, a total of 167,000 candidates participated in the examination in the country.

Mohammed explained that plans have been made to publish the results on July 7.

The registrar revealed that all necessary preparations for selecting and placing the successful candidates have been completed.

He added that the placing of the successful candidates would be from Monday, July 20 to July 22, 2026.

“So, for now, gradually, under this TVET arrangement, having the TVET I and TVET II, we have done the National Common Entrance. And in a matter of days, we have promised that in 21 working days, the result will be ready,” he said.

“And that result will be ready before the 21 working days. We told you that, we told the press, our brothers and friends in the media, that on 29th of July, we will do the selection and placement.

“Authoritatively, I am telling you this evening, the selection and placement of those students will be on Monday 20th to 22nd of July.

“All arrangement for selection have been concluded. I assure you, by 7th of July, that is next week, Tuesday, the result for the National Common Entrance will be made public.

“Last year we had 92,260 candidates that sought the enrolment and sat for the exam. This year we are having 167,000. You now can see this policy of the honourable minister is taking us to where we want to be.

“And as it is today, what we need to do in NABTEB and all the Federal Technical Colleges is to maintain the momentum. If we are able to maintain the space we have and increase it a bit, the number will also increase by next year.”

‘TECHNICAL SCHOOLS WILL TAKE JOBLESS GRADUATES OFF STREET’

Mohammed said technical colleges make graduates self-reliant on relevant skills.

The registrar said Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) programmes will serve as major economic drivers in Nigeria. 

“It is clear that any student that graduated from this technical school has something to do on their own to earn a living,” he added.

“The advantage in technical school is for you to become self-reliant, and also create jobs for others. You become an employer of labour, and you can also be employed in government.

“Students do not have any option to key into TVET. Because it is better for us now to be able to de-emphasise on paper qualification. Go to the streets in Lagos now. There are hundreds of youth with first degree looking for a job. If they have the skill, they don’t need to beg anybody for a job.”

The registrar argued that Nigeria is still having some deficiencies in terms of infrastructure.

“For those who are in the field of technology, there is what we call improvisation. One of it is to equip some of the trade areas. We need the latest equipment. Arrangements are underway to review what we need for today,” he added.
