2027: Major Jack emerges as Chinda’s running mate in Rivers

Major Jack, who is the Majority Leader of the Rivers State House of Assembly, has been chosen as the running mate for the governorship position in the All Progressives Congress (APC).

This was reported on Tuesday by the Publicity Secretary of the party, Ikenga Chibike.

Jack will serve as the running mate to the APC governorship candidate, Kingsley Ogundu Chinda, in the 2027 Rivers State governorship election.

His emergence adds to the party’s preparations for the election as it works to strengthen its ticket ahead of the poll.

Recall that Chinda emerged as the governorship candidate of the ruling party after the primary election held in May 2026.

The choice of Jack was said to be part of efforts to achieve geographical balance on the ticket and strengthen the party’s grassroots support, particularly in the riverine areas of the state.

Jack defected to the APC in December 2025 alongside the Speaker of the House, Martin Amaewhule, and several other lawmakers.
