68 escape death after Enugu Airlines plane makes emergency crash landing
At least 68 passengers survived Thursday’s crash-landing of an Enugu Airlines flight at Benin Airport in Edo State.
The flight, whose aircraft has registration number 5N-ENR, was reportedly on an Enugu-Benin-Lagos commercial flight when the crash-landing took place.
In a statement released to News Agency of Nigeria by a source at the airport who preferred anonymity, the source stated that the plane “overshot the runway and crashed into a bush.”
He added that officials of the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) promptly responded to the accident and evacuated all passengers from the plane.
“There was no loss of life or injury. FAAN officials quickly mobilised to the scene and evacuated all the passengers safely,” the source said.
Although the aircraft was carrying 68 passengers, the exact number of crew members on board could not be immediately confirmed.
Authorities are yet to issue an official statement on the cause of the incident, while further details are expected as investigations continue.
