2027: Kwankwaso’s son emerges NDC Deputy Governorship candidate in Kano
The Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) has launched Mustapha Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, the son of former Governor of Kano State and Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, as their candidate for deputy governorship in the state’s 2027 elections.
This was revealed in a press statement released on Monday by the spokesperson of the Kwankwasiyya movement, Habibu Saleh Mohammed. It is contained in the release that Mustapha Kwankwaso will be the running mate to their gubernatorial candidate, Aminu Abdussalam Gwarzo.
It should be recalled that recently, the NDC announced Aminu Abdussalam Gwarzo as their candidate for the 2027 gubernatorial race in Kano State.
“HE Aminu Abdussalam Gwarzo unveiled Hon. Mustapha Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso as running mate for 2027 Governorship Election,” the statement read.
Mustapha had earlier resigned from the Kano State Executive Council following political tensions between Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf and his father, Senator Rabiu Kwankwaso.
In his resignation statement, he described his departure from government as a difficult decision taken “with a heavy heart,” while expressing gratitude to the governor for the opportunity to serve.
He also praised the administration’s youth-focused policies, particularly in sports development, expressing optimism that ongoing programmes would continue to benefit young people in the state.
