Veteran Juju star Saint Janet dies

The well-known Nigerian musician, Iyun Janet Oluwatoyosi Ajilore, popularly known as Saint Janet, has passed on following a brief illness.

The celebrated artist, according to reports, breathed her last on Saturday having enjoyed a career spanning many years during which she gained recognition for her entertaining performances and special way of engaging her audience.

Information regarding her passing on was released on Sunday through Otunba Femi Davies, the renowned publisher and socialite who broke the bad news in a post made on his Facebook account.

Saint Janet was a household name in the world of Nigerian Juju and Highlife music, where she earned herself a fan base through her engaging and entertaining performances. She will be remembered for her contribution to the entertainment world and has received numerous tributes from her fans and fellow artists.

Confirming the development, Davies wrote, “St Janet (Iyun Janet Ajilore), a popular Nigerian Juju and Highlife musician known for her vibrant live performances, energetic stage presence and socially unfiltered party tracks, is dead. She died after a brief illness on Saturday.”

Over the years, St. Janet became known for her ability to connect with audiences through performances that combined music with wit and social commentary, helping to distinguish her from many of her contemporaries.
