Suspected terrorists have abducted six Almajiri pupils during a fresh attack on Unguwar Gere, a community in Birnin Gwari Local Government Area of Kaduna State, further highlighting the persistent insecurity affecting parts of Nigeria’s North-West.

According to local sources, the attackers stormed the community, creating panic among residents before whisking away the children to an unknown destination.

The latest incident has left families and community members in distress, with many expressing fears over the safety of the abducted pupils. Residents described the attack as another painful reminder of the growing threat posed by armed groups operating in the Birnin Gwari axis, an area that has witnessed repeated cases of kidnappings and violent attacks in recent years.

Central Post Nigeria reports that Birnin Gwari has remained one of the flashpoints of insecurity in Kaduna State, with several communities frequently targeted by terrorists and bandits who carry out abductions, attacks on villages, and other criminal activities.

Community leaders have appealed to security agencies to intensify rescue efforts and ensure the safe return of the children. They also called for stronger security measures to protect vulnerable communities and educational centres from future attacks.

The abduction has once again renewed concerns over the safety of children in conflict-prone areas, particularly those enrolled in traditional Islamic learning centres.
