France affirmed their FIFA World Cup title claim with a resounding 4-1 win against Norway on Friday, in a clash of titans where Kylian Mbappé shone brighter than Erling Haaland.

Even though Erling Haaland had been hyped for his match with France, it was Mbappé who proved to be too much for Norway, creating two goals for his team that led to their win and the group leaders’ position.

Ousmane Dembélé helped Les Bleus kick off proceedings perfectly on the eighth minute mark, with a goal off an assist from Mbappé, before adding another goal in the 20th minute with another Mbappé assist.

Norway managed to reduce the deficit in the process almost instantly when Thelo Aasgaard put one past Lloris a minute later after being assisted by Andreas Schjelderup, bringing back hope for a possible comeback from Norway.

But that hope disappeared very quickly as France scored their third goal in the 32nd minute through Ousmane Dembélé’s third goal of the half, assisted by Aurélien Tchouaméni to end the half with a 3-1 lead.

Norway had a great chance of recovering after the break, but they lost a penalty shot in the 50th minute through Jørgen Strand Larsen, enabling France to take control of the game.

However, tension rose in the dying minutes of the match when Tchouaméni was booked in the 74th minute, but France were still able to make more gains to increase their lead.

Late in injury time, the replacement player Désiré Doué delivered the final touch for an impressive performance of France, who finished off Norway with an assist from Bradley Barcola for 4-1 victory.

This win sealed the victory of France as Group I winner with a perfect score, while Norway was the runner-up advancing to the knockout rounds despite their first loss in the competition.
