2027 Elections: ADC uploads Atiku and Amaechi’s details to INEC portal
The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has officially entered into the INEC nomination portal the names and details of their presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar, and his running mate, Rotimi Amaechi, in preparation for the 2027 general elections.
This came to light on Tuesday through the announcement made by the party’s National Publicity Secretary, Bolaji Abdullahi, in a press statement that was released on his verified X handle.
Abdullahi disclosed that the filing is yet another milestone achieved by the party in preparation for the 2027 presidential election.
“We are pleased to announce that we have successfully uploaded the names and particulars of the African Democratic Congress presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar (GCON), and our vice-presidential candidate, Rotimi Amaechi (CON), to the nomination portal of the Independent National Electoral Commission.
“This marks another important step in our preparations for the 2027 general election and our commitment to offer Nigerians a credible alternative built on competence, unity and national renewal,” he stated.
The upload complies with one of the mandatory requirements of INEC, ensuring that political parties can officially submit the information about their nominated candidates in accordance with the commission’s schedule for the 2027 elections.
Atiku secured his position as the presidential candidate of ADC by beating two other contestants – former Minister of Transportation, Rotimi Amaechi, and economist Mohammed Hayatu-Deen at the party’s presidential primary which took place in May.
After the presidential primary election, Amaechi agreed to serve as Atiku’s vice president, making the presidential ticket of the party complete.
ADC continues positioning itself as a significant opposition platform in light of the approaching 2027 general election, as Atiku plans to run again for the Nigerian presidency after participating in the presidential race under PDP at the elections of 2019 and 2023.
Previously, Amaechi ran for the presidential ticket of APC ahead of the 2023 elections but then he left the ruling party and joined ADC.
The party has been persistently stating that its intention is to put forward a credible alternative to the government of President Bola Tinubu in the upcoming 2027 presidential election.
