Lagos NURTW Organising Secretary Toba Ajiboye dies
The Organizing Secretary of the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW) Lagos State Council, Comrade Toba Ajiboye, is no more.
His passing was made official by the Chairman of NURTW Lagos State Council, Mustapha Adekunle, popularly known as Sego.
According to Sego’s tribute to his friend, Toba was a loyal and trustworthy ally and union member who will surely be missed in the Team Sego because of his unwavering support for Sego.
It was reported that Toba survived an assassination attack Sunday night, July 12th after alleged gunmen shot at his vehicle when he was coming back home from his childhood place of residence called Fadeyi in Lagos.
The attackers showered Toba’s white vehicle with numerous bullets and made several holes in his windscreen and other parts of his car.
In one of the videos that has been widely shared online, the vehicle has a few bullet injuries, causing fear among supporters and residents of the incident of attack.
According to sources close to the matter, it has been found out that he was shot and survived, but not much is known about how the shooting took place.
It has been learned that the shooting happened when he was on his way out to Ikorodu Road Express, as the shooters stopped his vehicle and started firing bullets at him.
At the same time, it can be stated that tension exists in the neighbourhood of Fadeyi because of the fear of reprisal attacks.
Response Rapid Squad and other security personnel have been called to these areas in order to keep the area peaceful.
Adekunle, through his verified Facebook page, has said, “It saddens and breaks my heart hearing the tragic news about Comrade Toba Ajiboye.
