Osun Election: Suspected policemen allegedly disrupt voting, seize materials in Modakeke
It is claimed that voting was disrupted in Modakeke Ward 10 of Osun State on Saturday following claims by witnesses that some persons suspected to be police men seized electoral materials and dispersed voters and electoral officials.
According to the witness, the voting area had been peaceful until this disruption happened.
It is reported that the suspects took away the electoral materials and then released what was described as tear gas before leaving the area.
“All the election agents and corps members took to their heels as soon as they arrived,” the witness said.
The development reportedly caused panic at the polling area, with election officials and party agents fleeing for safety.
The circumstances surrounding the incident, including the identity of those who allegedly took away the materials, could not be independently verified as of the time of filing this report.
There was also no immediate official statement from the police or the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) on the reported incident.
