2027 election: Wike ally Sandy Onor buys PDP Presidential form to challenge Tinubu
The Peoples Democratic Party has announced its first ever presidential candidate in preparation for the coming general elections in 2027 after Sandy Onor managed to pick up his nomination form at the party’s national headquarters located in Abuja.
The event which took place at Wadada Plaza saw the PDP national chairman, Abdulrahman Mohammed, hand over the nomination papers to the former senator who is now running for the presidency of the PDP.
The former senator who represented the Cross River Central Senatorial District in the 9th National Assembly between 2019 and 2023 is looking to win the presidential nomination of the PDP and challenge the ruling All Progressives Congress in 2027.
Onor was born on February 14, 1966, and is anticipated to initiate consultations and engagements throughout the country as he vies for the party’s flagbearer position.
The emergence of Onor in the race is the beginning of the journey towards what is anticipated to be a fiercely contested internal competition amongst the PDP members before the next elections.
According to party authorities, more candidates will emerge during the coming months as the PDP embarks on organizing the primaries and zoning consultations.
At this moment, Onor remains the only official presidential candidate for the 2027 elections under the PDP’s electoral roadmap.
