2027: Oyo State Gov Seyi Makinde declares presidential bid under APM
Seyi Makinde, the governor of Oyo State, has formally declared his readiness to contest for the presidency in 2027 through the Allied Peoples Movement (APM).
The announcement came at a meeting held at Mapo Hall in the state capital, Ibadan, as Makinde continues to exert his political muscle amid internal conflicts in the PDP of Oyo State in view of the 2027 general elections.
“I hereby, Oluseyi Abiodun Makinde, Excellency, declare my candidacy for the office of the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria,” he declared.
Prior to his candidature declaration, Makinde had spearheaded the Taminu Turaki faction of the PDP in Oyo State to sign a Memorandum of Understanding with the APM to form an alliance for the coming general elections.
On their parts, Governor Makinde and the National Chairman of the APM, Yusuf Dantalle, signed the agreement on behalf of their respective organizations.
As per the MOU, all candidates fielded by the PDP faction to vie for the offices of governorship, senators, representatives, and state lawmakers would contest under the APM platform instead of the PDP in the 2027 general elections.
