The news about the death of the traditional ruler came from his son, Engr. Tijjani Hamisu Bala, who is the General Manager of the Yobe State Road Maintenance Agency (YORMA).

In his announcement about the demise of the traditional ruler, he described the late emir as a father, mentor, and a great leader who lived to serve humanity

“With profound sorrow and total submission to the will of Almighty Allah, I announce the passing of my beloved father, namesake and traditional ruler, His Royal Highness Alhaji Ahmad Tijjani Ibn Saleh, the Emir of Gazargamu, who returned to his Creator today, June 9, 2026, in Cairo, Egypt, after a protracted illness,” he said.

He noted that the late monarch lived a life marked by wisdom, humility, courage, and unwavering commitment to the welfare of his people, adding that his legacy would continue to inspire future generations.

“His fatherly guidance, leadership and legacy will remain a source of inspiration to us all,” Bala added.

He prayed for Allah to show His mercy on the dead monarch and prayed that Allah would give him Al-Jannatul Firdaus while giving the deceased’s family members, the Emirate, and other well-wishers the strength to cope with the bereavement.

Up to the filing of this report, no arrangement for burying the monarch was made, while there was uncertainty about whether the late Emir would be buried in Nigeria or Egypt.
