Residents flee to safety as Boko Haram burns govt schools in Borno community
The people of Kautikari village in Chibok LGA of Borno State were put under siege last night, as Boko Haram/ISWAP suspected members made another incursion on the settlement and set ablaze two schools in the area.
From information gathered, the attack took place at about 7 p.m., where armed men raided the village and made the people panic and run away into bushes around the area to evade the attack.
Kautikari is a village located along the Chibok axis of Borno State which, in recent times, has faced several incursions from Boko Haram members, despite military actions that have been taking place within the North-Eastern part of the country.
Security operatives within the Kautikari village, who are now residing in Maiduguri, confirmed the attack, but noted that casualty reports and damage levels were yet to be made known.
“Yes, I can confirm to you that our village (Kautikari) in the Chibok local government area is under Boko Haram attack,” one of the security personnel told Vanguard.
“Our people are scampering for safety, even as two schools (primary and day secondary school) are under fire,” he added.
As of the time of filing this report, security agencies had yet to issue an official statement on the attack, while efforts to determine whether there were casualties remained ongoing.
