Abuja Flood: Wike directs demolition of houses built on water channels

The Minister of Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has issued an instruction for the demolition of homes that hinder water flow in Maitama and other flood-prone areas in Abuja.

This instruction was given by the minister on Tuesday following his inspection tour of some areas experiencing flooding in Maitama.

Wike explained that the demolition will commence immediately and run until Saturday, irrespective of any political activities taking place or the ownership of the structures concerned.

The minister insisted that structures that hinder water flow or cause flooding will not be spared.
